Mr. Wilbert Wiley was born on March 1, 1930, in the Shady Grove Community outside Forrest City, Ar. He left his earthly tabernacle for his reward in Heaven on January 13, 2022, at the age of 91. He was one of thirteen children born to Thurman and Emma (Jones) Wiley.

At an early age, Wilbert accepted Christ at the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. As an adult, Wilbert remained devoted to his faith, making St. Matthews Baptist Church his home in Corpus Christi, TX. Mr. Wiley re-dedicated his life to Christ in 2021 at St. Matthews Baptist Church.

In 1951, at the age of twenty-one, Wilbert relocated to Corpus Christi in search of better job opportunities. Wilbert had many jobs in his lifetime that included construction, cook, club owner, and longtime Dry Cleaner of 35 years. Wilbert loved music, specifically, the blues!!  One of his hobbies was playing the blues on the guitar and playing for family and friends whenever he got a chance. Other hobbies he enjoyed were playing pool and fishing in his free time with his son. One special skill Wilbert possessed was putting a smile on your face when you needed it. He was a joy to be around and never shied away from having a good time. Wilbert will truly be missed by all and will never be forgotten!!

Wilbert was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Odessa and Raymond and by sisters, Elizabeth, Ethel, Artavia, Aretha, Dorothy, and Lovie.

Wilbert leaves to cherish his memory his three children; Wilbert Salomon-Wiley (Diana) of Katy Texas, Lasherryon Brown (Leonard) of Corpus Christi, and Norman Sancho of San Diego, one brother; Alfred Wiley, three sisters; Mattie Nash (Joe), Ruby Traore, and Erie Wiley, two grandchildren; Devrick Brown, Letreish Brown (deceased), twin brothers Phoenix and Hendrix Salomon-Wiley and many nieces and nephews.
