On December 22, 1936, Vernell Edwards was born to the late Elbert Satterwhite and Dovie Sutton in Nixon, Texas. Vernell transitioned to her Heavenly Home on Saturday, September 18, 2021, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughters: Shirley (Arthur) Kinney, Linda (Kenneth) Gilmore, Lena Holmes, Adrian (Richard) James, Gloria (Willie) Simmons, Yolanda M. Green, Brenda L. Edwards, Carolyn A. Edwards, selective daughter Brenda (Teddy) Clark; two sons: Dwight D. Edwards and Willie J. (Connie) Lee and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
