In loving memory of John Johnny Henderson, Sr., a proud veteran, skilled craftsman, and devoted family man. He peacefully passed away on August 15, 2026, at 83 in San Antonio, Texas. A celebration of his life and legacy will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026. Visitation is at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary First Baptist Church, 2906 Carver Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas 78406. The funeral service is at 11:00 a.m. and burial at 1:00 p.m. at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 I-37, Corpus Christi, TX 78410.

Born on November 14, 1942, in Corpus Christi, Texas, John J. Henderson was the son of Johnson R. Henderson and Margarita Davis. His life was defined by service, hard work, and love. After serving in the US Marines, he became a respected master carpenter. Known for his skills and generosity, John dedicated his life to helping others. He enjoyed playing dominoes, which brought joy and camaraderie. Guided by faith, John lived a fulfilling life. As Psalm 23 says, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want… goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

John, a loving and purposeful man, leaves behind cherished family and friends. Survived by Margaret Henderson, Marilyn Kuykendall, and brother Leonard, his legacy lives on through his children: Victor, John, Jr., Debra, Chris, Delton, Crystal, Adwayns, Kiwan, James, Xavier, and Johnson. He is also beloved by his numerous grand, great-, and great-great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brothers Dennis and Leon, and sons Joseph and Clinton. Though he is dearly missed, his warmth, wisdom, and strength will forever remain in our hearts.
