IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gary Anthony
Griffin
July 25, 1959 – March 21, 2025
Gary Anthony Griffin was born July 25, 1959, in Corpus Christi, TX to the parentage of Malcolm Eugene Griffin and Annie Mae Griffin. He was the eldest of five children. He attended David Crockett Elementary, Sterling B. Martin Junior High and received his High School Diploma from Foy H. Moody High School, Class of 1978. Gary professed his faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Elliot Grant at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church. His love for Christ was evident as he grew and participated in the youth activities - Sunday School, BTU, Vacation Bible School and Youth Choir. Gary had a beautiful singing voice and often led solos. His love for music grew and he became a member of the show choir at Foy H. Moody High.
Like his father, Gary was very athletic and enjoyed playing various sports from his youth. He excelled in football and he and his brother Greg were a dynamic duo for the Mighty Moody Trojans. He shared his love for sports with his nephews and nieces throughout the years. He was often found throwing, catching or chasing a ball. During his later years, he moved from sports participant to unofficial sideline coach and over- dramatic sports commentator. Gary was an amazing storyteller and could capture anyone's attention with the vivid stories he told making you wonder if those stories were real or made up. After graduating high school, Gary enlisted in the United States Army and served for four years and two years in the Army Reserve. He relocated to Dallas, TX where he worked in Security, Landscaping, and various odd jobs. After moving to Houston and eventually back to Corpus Christi, he worked in the food service industry. Gary was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm and Annie Griffin. Left to cherish his memory are: three brothers, Gregory Griffin, Sr. (Elizabeth) of Bonney Lake, WA, Marlon Griffin (Karen) of San Antonio, TX, Philip Griffin (Michelle) of Arlington, TX; one sister Melody "Penny" Griffin of Dallas, TX; special Sister-in-Law Debbie Griffin, Cedar Hill, TX; special nephew Warren Daniel Griffin, Corpus Christi, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Gary's kind and giving heart, as well as his legacy of love and service towards others will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
