Ethel Jo Mitchell (White) was born July 10th, 1956 to Carrie Jo and Herschel White In Corpus Christi, TX
and was raised by the late Rev. and Sister Isaac Florence.
Ethel accepted the lord at a very young age. She and her sister , Amanda, were raised by Rev. and Sis.
Moore who put them through music lessons in where Ethel played piano. Ethel worked in the church
from and early age using God's gift of playing the piano and singing. In her life she worked in all the
church's she attended. She was active in the choirs, missions and the usher boards until her health
began to fail. Ethel was a longtime member of Rising Star Baptist Church and later about 14 years
membership with St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church until her death.
Ethel attended public schools in the Corpus Christi Indep. School District and attaining a certificate
and license as a certified nursing assistant. Ethel worked tirelessly with the elderly and sick in
several nursing homes. In this she achieved many awards as employee of the month and of the year.
Ethel also worked as a home provider, and on many occasions worked tirelessly within her own home
and family. Ethel raised two granddaughters: Sharon White and Layla Smith. One grandson; Anthony Smith,
and a great grandson De'Shawn White, until her health began to fail.
Ethel tended to many sick within her own family as well. All until the point of death. To these were a daughter,
Tasha White a husband, her mother, a sister, an uncle, and aunt. Ethel was a woman of
great strength and courage. Never tiring under the pressure, even when her own health was failing.
In her life she never met a friend or person that she did not impact their life in some way.
On April 19th, 2021 God began the transitioning of Ethel from earth to glory. What happened sudden
and surprise to many, this was no surprise or sudden act to God. He had and have everything under
His hand, control, and watch. In this Ethel was called home to join those who proceeded her in death;
James Mitchell (Husband) , Tasha White (Daughter), and grand baby , David White (Son), Omar
White, (Son), her Mother, a sister, an uncle, and an aunt.
Ethel leaves to mourn: Daughters: Vouchon White (CC), Evette White (FL), Paulette Lewis ( S.A.). She
also leaves many grandchildren (15)) , and many great grandchildren (8). Brothers; Robert (Butch)
Pigford (Austin, TX). Rickey Anderson (CA), Charley White (CC), Sisters; Francine Kelly (Houston, TX),
Amanda Persley (Austin, TX, Valarie Hardeman, (CA). Ethel also leaves behind many nieces and nephews,
great nieces and nephews, friends, and Facebook family.
