IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Danny Lamar
Henderson
February 27, 1953 – December 31, 2022
Dr. Danny Lamar Henderson, left this life for the next, on December 31st, 2022. His remarkable life began, February 27th, 1953, when Frank Henderson Jr. and Agnes Iona (Canty) Henderson, welcomed their 3rd son, Danny Lamar Henderson, into this world. Danny, along with his older brothers, William, and Frank, were raised on the family farm in Cartersville, Georgia, later to be joined by their baby brother Anthony. Around town, Danny's childhood nickname was "Duckman", given to him by his grandfather, because as a toddler, he walked like a duck.
Danny attended school in Cartersville, where his mother was a teacher. However he graduated high school from the Windsor Mountain Preparatory School in Lenox, Massachusetts. His next step was Quinnipiac University where in 1976 he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology. May 11th of that same year Danny was off on another adventure, he made a deal with the United States Navy. The Navy would pay for his dental education and he would give them 4 years of service. Danny enrolled in the University of Connecticut, at Storrs, where he studied Dentistry. It was also in Connecticut that he met the two loves of his life, Cynthia Nelson, and her young son Andre Thomas. 1982 was a big year for Danny, he married Cynthia and graduated from the University of Connecticut with a DMD, (Doctor of Medical Dentistry).
Immediately after graduation, the U.S. Navy, true to their word, shipped Dr. Danny Henderson to NAS Kingsville, Texas to begin his tour of duty. After Kingsville, his next station was Okinawa, Japan, and his final tour of duty was NAS Corpus Christi, Texas. However, he never left Corpus.
The young man from Cartersville, Georgia, decided to make Corpus Christi, Texas, his home. In 1987 Danny opened his dental practice in Corpus Christi, where he became affectionately known as "Doc Hollywood". Danny built a practice that was known for meticulous care and forging lasting relationships outside of the practice with his patients and staff. For 35 years "Doc", provided an unparalleled level of care.
Not content with enhancing the lives of his patients, Danny and his wife Cynthia have been passionately involved in the Corpus Christi, community. Working with the Black Chamber of Commerce, the Black History Cultural Committee and various civic organizations, Danny helped make Corpus Christi one of the best places to live in America. For 15 years, both Cynthia and Danny have been honored for their work and sponsorship of the Black History Cultural Committee's scholarship program. But man does not thrive on solely business and civic successes. Danny was also known as the life of the party. He established the Brothers of Distinction, an esteemed social group renowned for their celebrations.
Dr. Danny Lamar Henderson, has left this world better than he found it. His big heart and desire to help people, will have a ripple effect down through the years.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife Cynthia Nelson Henderson, his son, Andre Thomas, brothers, William (Elmer), Frank (Beverly), and Anthony (Cecily) Henderson, cousin Leroy (Gwen) Patterson, Special Friend, Terry Johnson, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. God Bless you Danny, our profound loss is Heaven's gain. May you rest in perfect peace.
