Obituary

Billie Gale Green was born to Fern L. Taylor and Horace Enoch Green on March 22, 1939. Bill grew up in Jefferson County, Illinois. He graduated from Alton High School, and shortly after his graduation, he joined the Navy and was an MM2 at his time of Honorable. He was discharged due to an eye disease called Graves Disease. Bill loved the Navy. The letters he sent home from overseas were written in a way that not only were you reading about the places he'd been but in a way that you could feel his excitement through his words. After his discharge from the Navy, he found himself in Corpus Christi, TX, where he met the woman who would be his wife, Joyce Jean Henry. They married and had two children, Larry Gale Green, and Jeri Ann Green. He also had a stepson, Bobby Ray. Bill worked in the refineries of Corpus Christi until an accident occurred, and he fell and broke his back. Billie was a survivor in many ways. He suffered silently for many years. Just as he dealt with all experiences in life. Bill always managed his illness with strength and grace. Billie leaves behind two loving children, Larry Gale Green and Jeri-Ann Green, and three grandchildren, Grant William Taylor, Cassandra Jean Taylor, Kierson Leigh Green, and the last love of his life Betty Vaughn. Billie will be missed by all who know him, especially at the solstice Living Community where he lived.
