Arlena Hall-Pullam, peacefully passed away during a casual afternoon nap with the TV remote still in her hand, completely at peace, in no pain, at her home, in Corpus Christi, Texas. On Monday February 24, 2025. She was 95 years of age. Arlena was born April 5, 1929. to the parentage of Jasper and Arlena Hall. She was delivered in the hospital, in Bryan, Texas weighing a whopping sixteen pounds. She was the youngest of six children, and was named after her mother. Arlena began her public school years at Fairview Elementary School in Bryan Texas. Her family went to Jerusalem Baptist Church. Her father was a deacon there. It was where she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized. She learned hymns and developed her gift of singing. Her mother had a job opportunity to help the family in Corpus Christi, Texas. Bringing Arlena with her, she was enrolled her senior year and graduated from Solomon Melvin Coles High School in Corpus. After her Children were grown she pursued a formal education and receiving a degree in Clerical Education and Accounting. Afterwards she was employed with CCISD. She worked at Roy Miller High School for a number of years. She was transferred to Tom Brown Junior High School where she retired after 20 years total with the District. October 28, 1945, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Alvin Pullam. They were wed at her parent's home in Bryan, Texas. To this union three sons were born while living on Corpus Christi's Northside, and attended Saint John Baptist Church in the community. Upon moving to the city's Westside, Arlena moved her church membership to Calvary First Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. Henry Clay Dilworth, bringing her three sons with her. She was a faithful member of the choir and the missionary union in circle Naomi.

After her husband became a member of Saint John First Baptist Church and was a candidate for deaconship, she moved her membership to be with him, becoming a vital member there. She served in many capacities at her church. Beautification Chairperson, The Culinary Committee, Pastor's Assistance Committee worker, Choir President, and Mission Member. She became honorary mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and Godmother to many over the years. Arlena was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Jasper Hall Jr. as a child. Four sisters: Elsie Herndon, Thelma Walker, Inez Bellamy, Annie Mae Fort. Two sons: Rev. Lloyd Anthony Pullam, James Lowell Pullam. Daughter-in-law: Janice F. Williams-Pullam. A grandson: Kendrick Ewers Sr. And, her husband, Deacon Lloyd Alvin Pullam. They shared SIXTY EIGHT years together. Being left alone by so many she found comfort in the company of her beloved cat, Silver. She was previously owned by her son James Lowell. Silver lived long and after not recovering from a painful illness, it was VERY sadly decided to put her down. Arlena leaves the cherish her memory her youngest son, and Pastor, Rev. William Lanier Pullam and daughter-in-law, Vietta Louvin Francis Pullam of the city. Six grandchildren: Rev. Kevin L Pullam, Mark A, Pullam {Taiesha), Keith L. Pullam. Lloyd R. Pullam (Essica}, Rev. Kraig L. Pullam (D'Ani), and Constance J. Pullam. She leaves 21 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren. A very close niece who often looked after her, Ms. Deborah Hall of Fresno, Texas. Nephews: Frank Bellamy Jr. and Fred Herndon. Nieces: Cynthia Johnson, Margaret Bernett, Sandra Smith (Ray) Shawn Owens (Johnnie), Karen Smith (Danny), and Ngone Aw. Numerous Great and great great nieces, nephews, Godchildren and friends. A very special thank you to Ms. Shirley Rhodes, Beverly Williams, Sharon LaPorte who also helped keep watch over her. Not to forget a close and special cousin, Bobbie Robinson who would sit with her when she was in the hospital and was her shopping buddy. And also her special cousin and morning coffee buddy Rev. Carl Walker.
