Obituary

June 1, 1964 - June 3, 2025

Amy Lynn Pels was born on January 1, 1964 in Dallas, Texas.  From the moment she entered this world, she brought light, laughter, and an unforgettable presence with her. She graduated from Blue Ridge High School and later earned her degree from Texas Woman's University, setting the stage for a life spent helping and healing others.

Amy was the proud and devoted mother of two beautiful daughters, Jordan Lynn Pels and Scout Frankie Maxham, born eight years apart. Being a mother was always at the center of Amy's soul. But her love didn't stop with her own children—she took in everyone. Friends, patients, neighbors—if you crossed Amy's path, you were family. Her door and her heart were always wide open.

She was as wild as she was wise—one crazy woman with a laugh that could shake a room and a heart big enough to hold the world. Amy was the first to help, the first to give, and always the first to say "count me in" when it came to fun, no matter how small. She took us places we never would have seen without her, both literally and emotionally, and taught us how to live life wide open.

Amy had the kind of heart you only come across once in a lifetime. Fiercely loving, endlessly giving, incredibly smart, and always knowing just what to do. She was our compass—our guide when life got too loud. She was the mom I hope to become: compassionate, sharp, and beautifully brave.

Amy is survived by her loving husband, Frank "Ricky" Pels, who stood by her side with unwavering dedication and love, especially through the hardest years. She also leaves behind her daughters, Jordan Lynn Pels and Scout Frankie Maxham; her grandsons, Ryker Trotter and Zeppelin Maxham; her beloved sister, Karen "Sissy" Riddle; and her niece and nephew, Victoria and Buck Riddle, whom she helped raise as her own. She also considered Victoria's daughters—Haidyn Riddle, Brinley Walker, and Neely Walker—her grandchildren in every way that mattered.

We lost her too soon—but what a gift it was to be loved by Amy Pels.

She was preceded in death by her father, Billie Riddle, Morther, Roberta Bishop, Stepfather Alvin Bishop and brother, Randall Riddle

Amy's Celebration of Life will be held at a future date in August and direct cremation services are provided by Unity Chapel Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, TX.
